The Hampshire Avon is regarded by many as one of the best fly fishing rivers in the UK and Undercastle Cottage owns an impressive 1100 yards of this famous river’s banks for guests to fish from. The stretch of river either side of the cottage is wildly pretty with plentiful wildlife and overhanging trees, plants and shrubs providing sanctuary. The river has a plentiful food source from an abundant variety of fly hatches, providing fishermen with rod bending experiences to catch mighty barbel, chub, salmon, carp, pike, dace, grayling and trout.
Coarse fishing is from 16th June to 14th March and Salmon and Trout fishing is between 1st April to the 30th September. You cannot fish between 15th March to 1st April. If you are a novice fisherman or would like to hone your skills, we can (subject to availability) offer private tuition.
